The newspaper might be dying but the journalist will be fine

My colleague David George-Cosh, tech reporter at the National Post, outlines some of the things that a print journalist can do to get him or herself more online exposure. Some of the stuff (get yourself on social networking sites, start a blog) might seem basic, but bear repeating.
As a tech reporter, some of this stuff is second nature to him. His community, the people he’s covering, competing with and following him have jobs that revolve around technology, whether it’s cellphones or software. But even journalists in the most obscure of beats or specializations can benefit from Web 2.0 technologies and programs.
Most experts would also argue that building an online presence can help you find that job, in the unfortunate event that your publication ceases to exist.
