Palin meets Couric…. hilarity ensues
Sep 25, 2008 in politics
Now, I can understand how some people could argue that Charlie Gibson and the rest of those rabid wolverines known as the male press corps are just being mean to Sarah Palin but Katie Couric, she of the chipmunk cheeks and million-watt style, she’s America’s sweetheart (her and Kelly Ripa).
But when Couric interviews Palin, she can’t even answer easy questions like citing examples of John McCain’s track-record of financial regulations. Ben Smith at Politico has a full transcript.
COURIC: But he’s been in Congress for 26 years. He’s been chairman of the powerful Commerce Committee. And he has almost always sided with less regulation, not more.
PALIN: He’s also known as the maverick, though. Taking shots from his own party, and certainly taking shots from the other party. Trying to get people to understand what he’s been talking about — the need to reform government.
COURIC: I’m just going to ask you one more time, not to belabor the point. Specific examples in his 26 years of pushing for more regulation?
PALIN: I’ll try to find you some, and I’ll bring them to you.
I’m not sure who we should blame Palin, or her press handlers for being so ridiculously incompetent and not prepping her properly. The best part, this train wreck will repeat itself a couple more times as Couric and CBS airs more clips from the Palin interview over the next few days. It’s like watching the same train run over someone, back up and run over them again and again.
