Because literary types deserve love too

Dear Penguin Canada,
if there’s one thing you can do for me this fall (other than publishing Lee Henderson’s very entertaining novel, the Man Game) it is bringing a version of the Penguin UK’s dating site to Canada.
From the boilerplate press release copy:
According to a host of recent polls, reading is officially sexy. Neglect your depilation and cancel your gym membership – you’d be better off heading to your local bookstore. Yes, it’s not just knowing that somebody can read that’s important, it’s what they read.
You can go on singles nights in libraries and there’s even a hybrid speed-dating book club in a pub. Here at Penguin Books we’ve teamed up with match.com to create penguindating.co.uk.
Yes. God bless, those sassy Brits. Yes, I know it’s just a gimmicky marketing exercise. But if marketing means that that bespectacled cutie reading Eugenides has a nice boy to walk her home then I’m all for cheesy marketing gimmicks.
Also, wait? Where are those damn singles nights at libraries? I’m planning on starting a speed-dating book club any month now, so I’ve got that worked out.
TPL, would you get on that? I want my library fines to go to work helping me hook-up with book nerds.
